A Typical Scene:
Your wife dresses up for an occasion, looks at herself in the mirror, turns to you and ask the dreaded question- 'Does this make me look fat?"
What do you say then? 'Yes' is obviously the wrong answer and 'No' also seems wrong as it is a dishonest one, considering her concerns about her appearance.
Men usually complain that women are hard to understand. They say we ask trick questions, play mind games and add drama. Agreed, weight can be a 'touchy' topic for most women. So, if you guys want to avoid frustation, answer it tactfully, also truthfully (got to be true to the one you love!)

She also knows when she is not the same size when you first met and/or dated her. There are only two reasons why a woman asks something that she anyway know:

- She is trying to start a fight, or
- She is getting insecure about your love for her.
Your job is to decide which is her motivation of asking this trick question. Most likely it will be the second option. So I will focus my post on that one.
Generally when a woman asks if she is looking fat, it is not that she is asking for a fashion advice. She generally means- 'Am I attractive to you?'. So the right answer is not to comment on her appearance, to discourage or encourage her. The right answer would come from the understanding why on earth would she ask such a horrible question.
So when your answer to her insecurities is 'Yes. You still are most important to me', then this is the best time to shower her compliments and make her day (thereby yours too ;)) And come to think of it, who does not like to listen to good things about oneself. This really has nothing to do with gender, least to say.
Men, never underestimate the power of a well- timed compliment.
