The Invisible Gap

And sometimes you discover

The gaps you were filling 

Do not fit anymore

Not in the same way

They used to be

Something has changed, for sure

Something has gone, for sure

Lost somewhere, destroyed

Broken, damaged forever

But you are still trying, unaware

Your heart is numb

With pain, but you keep trying

Behind that wide smile

Secretly still searching

That unfilled piece of the gap

Not knowing it has cut too deep now

Not knowing it has been too late now.
